The NSA
have tapped phones, invaded our privacy, and many other privacy issues since
the Patriot acts were passed. These actions break the 4th amendment and should
be changed or completely taken out. The Patriot Act is unconstitutional and the
people need to speak out against the government about these unfair and illicit
activities. The book Night by Elie Wiesel shows the power of speaking
out against the government. Elie shows that people can stand up to the
government and how strong they can be if they unite together. Even a judge
speaking about the NSA said, “that part of its collection program is likely
unconstitutional,” and that what has happened and is still happening is against
the law of The United States of America (“Task Force Calls for New NSA Limits”
1). Like in the book, people need to stand up to the government and challenge
the constitutionalism of the actions being taken by this government agency. In
the book the people use their courage to stand up to the Nazi who torture them
and show people what is right and wrong. The NSA is putting their power to
improper use much like the Nazi did in Elie Wiesel’s book, hiding the truth
about the spying it is doing on the American population and foreign countries.
According to a report about NSA spying, Germany “is among the countries that
are the focus of surveillance. Thus, the documents confirm what had already
been suspected for some time in government circles in Berlin -- that the US
intelligence service, with approval from the White House, is spying on the
Germans,” ("Secret Documents: NSA." 1). These actions show what
the NSA is listening to and what the people and other countries are saying
about it! This type of behavior should not be tolerated and should be quickly
expelled from our society.
